NDT Certification Board - Chairman's Message

Category: AINDT News

Dear members and certificate holders,

When renewing NDT certification, please note that the continuous experience in the method may consist of activities other than hands on testing. All of the activities listed below are working in the method of test.

  • Supervises level 1 and level 2 technicians performing Reviews records of test.
  • Wrights and authorises reports from records of test.
  • Performs field audits on technicians.
  • Supervises proficiency tests.

All of these are work in and would suffice as part of the continuous experience. If appropriate, a candidate for renewal may list these in the experience sheet of the application for renewal.

Hands on testing, although desirable, is not a requirement of ISO 9712 for continuous ongoing experience for the purpose of renewal of certification. We have also had instances of applicants for renewal submitting copies of NDT reports with their applications in an effort to prove their hands-on work during the 5 year period.

The AINDT do not require such proof and indeed do not want it. Applicants who have submitted such reports have most likely breached client confidentiality and by sending the reports to the AINDT are placing AINDT at risk should the information be wrongly used.

Once again, the Member Portal is open. Please log on and check your profile and submit applications.
